FADING BEAUTY

Fading artwork by Ismaƫl Moumin

We all have our flaws. Something we don't like on us and wanna change.
Nobody is perfect - and that's what makes us human.

The aspiration for perfection runs in the blood otherwise the human beeing would not exist.
Every day anew he go into battle, to satisfy his desire for perfection.
But besides all the fighting we shouldn't forget:

"It' s only with the heart that one can see rightly. What's essential is invisible to the eye."

Becoming 31 this fall feels like I'm ageing day by day even more.
Maybe it's the wisdom which kicked me or maybe it's my responsible life as an adult
and mother but for the first time je ne sai quoi about getting old.
While struggeling with life as a teenager and questioning myself without finding the
right answers I'm more than pleased to be in the prime of life now. I know, ageing
is hard, especially for us ladies, and especially since we belong to a Photoshop
generation. But for all that, beauty is in the eye of the beholder and we're the
beholders with the eye!
As soon as we accept it all, we're perfect.

  1. Agree! It's super important to accept ourselves and our age with dignity. I'm not saying that Photoshop or even plastic surgeries are the devil, if that's what makes some people happy it's fine as long as there's a balance and limits. :) I must admit I'd have never guess you're turning 31 this Fall 'cause you do look younger! Just remember real beauty doesn't fade <3

I've always want to be perfect but my failures made me realize that no one is and no one will ever be. Being 31 means being more mature and responsible. Good Luck and wake up everyday with a brave heart :)

  9. I cannot begin to express the immense beauty of these artworks; the symbolism and textures are amazing. I've said this before, but I LOVE the art that you share!

I'm not at that stage yet, but I think ageing is a beautiful thing, but it's something so hard to embrace because of societal influences. Experience wise, growing a year older means you're richer metaphorically, but being in a world where physicalities come first above everything else, it's kind of hard, isn't it? I think you're taking turning 31 so gracefully, and, while you may not be able to make your mind about it now, I think you'll rock at being the age. Do let me know when your birthday is because I do want to wish you one on the day! For now, happy advanced, and have a lovely weekend. <3

That is what makes us unique individuals.

Learn to love our self and soon enough we will be more happier than ever

  19. I love your philosophy about aging, I definitely agree with it! For me, it's almost the opposite, I'm trying to slow down and not be in such a rush to live my life. And of course, your photos go so well with the text, as always!

Aging doesn't concern me, perhaps because I don't examine myself closely in the mirrow. :) I know I must have aged, I've turned 30 recently but I don't really notice any changes (again probably because I don't pay attention to it, I'm sure there are changes but I don't notice them). Many women take anti-aging battle seriously and I'm not against it, I mean there are many treatments today that really work but I'm really too lazy for all that and preoccupied with other things. So, basically I think it is important to rememeber that what is most important is invisible to the eye, as you said....and as for looking good, most people care about it so I don't think it is bad they invest their time and energy into it (as long as they don't get too preoccupied with it).

  37. Ira,

Such a lovely post. Yes, I feel with the advent of social media these days, we all "struggle" in some ways to try and "maintain" that "picture-perfect" made believe life that may not be true at all, to the point that we are obsessed. I have to agree I am one of them. I am, for one, "obsessed" with beauty, not necessarily beautiful, but somewhat trying to look at things in a beautiful manner or perspective, ever always searching for that beauty in life - no matter big or small, in a simple object or a crazy pile of chaos. Like Ivana, aging doesn't really bothers me that much, the deterioration of health does, in some ways. I am quite similar to Ivana here, for I don't really "examine" myself closely enough in the mirror. I am already over 40 but so what? We all age anyway. Beauty fades.

The sooner we come to terms with the reality, the better we are and feel happier, day by day.

Yes, what is truly more beautiful, most of the time, are invisible to our naked eyes, really. You have made a great point here.

Hope you are having a great weekend and wish you have a fruitful week ahead, my friend.

    Cheers,

  38. Dear Jeann! I couldn't agree more with your point of view!!! I believe that the social media gonna rise even more in the future. People are kinda fed up with the ugliness of the world, their homes and lives. That's why they're really attached to those "eye pleasures" on Insta & Co. It would be selfish to say that I'm not attaced to that too, especially since I'm a proud Libra! ;) but ageing makes me wiser day by day and opens my eyes for another perspective to see beauty in life. For example my post about Paris... we saw its beauty on every blog but does somebody shows its "ugliness"? I don't think so! Beauty lies in the eyes of the beholder. It really depends on the understanding and sense of style. And although beauty fades we can do at least something for our bodies and souls so our health and happiness can shine trough - that's what makes us beautiful after all!

I'm really happy about your smart and thought provoking feedback, Jeann! Thank you so much for taking the time to comment over here! I deeply appreciate your effort and the lovely "discussion", darling!! Have a fabulous week too, my friend. <3

  39. Dear Deborah! Thank you, I just wish I knew it at my younger age. :) We get older and wiser, that's the life cycle! The earlier we accept the reality, the faster we can life and its pleasures. Yeah, I often hear that from other people! I blame my youth on the genes of my mother... :) And I'm young at heart of course, especially after the arrival of my son.

    Appreciate the love, Deborah! <3

  41. Dear May! There so many stumbling blocks on the way to adulthood... I've popped into many of them! And after all, it makes me kinda stronger and open minded to many other things. Somehow I'm happy about the experiences I've made and somehow not... nevertheless those make us stronger for the rest of our lives. Thank you so much for sharing your point of view on that, my friend!! <3 You're the greatest!!

  45. Agree with your point of view, Mari! And I love your intersting perspective of thinking, it depends on a certain stage of life for sure as well! I do look young for my age, that's true! Maybe it's the fact which makes me care less about ageing... who knows! ;) Sometimes it's a blessing and a curse! I've read about Sharon's editorial, such a powerful icon and I love her attitude! 49. Dear Ivana, I didn't notice any changes either when turning 30 but one day I realized that I'm not 20 anymore. I've had to change my priorities and view on life completely, though I still tend to feel like 20 sometimes... :D Beauty fades but there're still so many opportunities to deal with it and there's nothing wrong with that. Either caring for the inner or the outer beauty - both are great attitute to life! Thank you for sharing your opinion on this controversial topic! Very much appreciated, my dear!
