NOTHING BUT AN ILLUSION

DENIM JUMPSUIT - H&M // LEATHER JACKET, CLUTCH, BELT, OVERKNEES - ZARA // :)

Let's talk about ethical values, ladies and gentlemen! As some of you might know I'm studying pedagogy and especially the fact of being a mother encourages me to think about right and wrong day by day. There're so many decisions to make while trying to live up to expectations as a young mom, adult or woman. Since I've started this blog I've found out that I'm not the only one who struggle here and there.

Besides that, to quote BEP's: "What happened to the values of humanity?" Am I the last one on earth who hold on to those? Standing by my opinion, don't lying or fighting injustice - aren't those the values we want to teach our children? With the revolution of internet a lots of things have changed, suddenly people are too busy with maintaining nothing but an illusion and slowly forget about those values.

But there is hope, just check #refugeeswelcome and you would know what I mean.
With that said, I'm always impressed by the humanity of bloggers who are featuring a lot of charity projects on their fashion blogs or even helping out by their own!

What do you think? Do you maybe even know some of them or who I mean?

Happy Hump Day, guys!

  5. I know what you mean. The internet is both our ruin and our salvation, and it's so true that people are too busy maintaining the illusion rather than concentrating on their values and things that really matter.
You look gorgeous, Ira :) very sex and the city! I love the leather jacket and boots, I bought a new faux leather jacket lately and I'm addicted to it, especially with the weather getting cooler, now.
Have a lovely day, sweetie, stay fabulous! I think it's amazing and wonderful that you are a mum and still juggle a blog, a job, as well as looking so beautiful xxx

  9. Yes I can imagine being a mother definitely makes you analyze everything and every decision you make because you ahve your son to think about. While this world can be a scary place, it is also filled with so much hope and that's something we should all hang on to. I don't actually follow many fashion blogs so I'm not aware of those whose feature charity projects but good for them especially if they're the bigger ones with huge followings who can really make an impact. It's certainly admirable compared those those bloggers who just buy and consume and offer nothing else.

  10. I actually thought i was the only one who thinks that this present generation have confused Morals with having freedom to do whatever you want , it's quite unfortunate that our children see things like these everyday on the internet, i was brought up by strict parents who taught humility ,kindness, and modesty and these are just a few of the things i want to pass on to my children and other children i teach at my place of work. Great post and KILLER BOOTS! where did you get them because i can't stop staring at them. You look amazing and keep up the good work as a mother.

  11. I love the leather jacket you're wearing, it fits so well, and seems perfect for the transition weather!

I actually haven't seen any charity projects on blogs (yet). I love that there is a huge positive reaction to the refugee crisis, but I can't help feeling like it'll only last until the "next big thing" happens. Social media is a huge factor of what we (or at least Americans) care about and want to contribute, once the news and internet stops caring, it seems so do the people. However, I still do think it's great that there are people that are doing good in this world!

  12. I think you're absolutely right I've experienced it first hand myself and I'm slightly ashamed, but I'm working hard to fight against it, maintaining an illusion on the internet. Like Angelina, I have yet to see any charity projects featured on blogs yet, but I think it's a wonderful idea. I'm working towards philanthropy work as well. As people who have a say and a voice in this world on screen, I think it's extremely important to give back to the world via, including but not limited to, our presence on the internet.

Anyway, this look is everything, Ira. I LOVE it. Those shoes are incredible and your black accents! <3

  19. I have seen one or two mentions but it is mostly about ethical fashion brands giving back to those who need. I do have a blogger friend who is passionate about supporting an Australian charity but that is about it. I wish I could see more of us giving back and spreading awareness though, especially with those with bigger voices than someone like me who is a "nobody" because of their follower amounts. It's sad that we have become so obsessed with figures and judging our worth by likes from strangers, people we will never know or meet.

I don't think that ethical value are disappearing. There are always good people and bad people, but for some reason many good deads and people don't get the media coverage they deserve. I can give you an example. Yesterday, it was on the news that the surgens in Rijeka hospital (Croatia) did an operation on a man's spine and they replaced a piece that was missing with a piece they printed with a 3D printer. It was first such operation in the world. How much media coverage did it get? A few minutes on a Croatian public TV and probably no time on any other channel in the world. The same thing happened when they used some kind of eletronic devide implant in Split hospital to wake up some kid from a coma. This device sends some kind of messages to brain and that 17 year old that they practically brought from the dead is walking, talking and living his life....but are those doctors getting any media coverage? Hardly any! However, I guess a part of the blame can be put on us (the general practic). If we read more scientific/purely art magazines, not just news (which is filled with who slept with who and so on), then the hard working scientist/ artists could get more resources and do even more amazing stuff. There is knowledge out there, if we are willing to look for it. The internet has enabled anyone to learn any language or get into any field for free...we just have to make proper use of it. I think way too many people stalk celebrities when they could be doing something more useful with their time. Turning scientist into celebrities, as some are trying to do, would not solve anything. We all need to light that desire for knowledge in our own heart, rely on oursleves and work harder on becoming better....then we will better be able to see that there are many people out there, working hard and being modest where it counts, but not bringing themselves down either ...and we can all be such people!

Some people think that fashion is superficial but it doesn't have to be. Fashion can be used to improve the lives of woman, it can give them work opportunities, it can be used for charity purpuses...and fashion just like anything else, can be talked about in an intelligent way. Many people see the fashion industry as something negative, but I think that kind of negative exists in any kind of business or industry. In some ways fashion industry is even more tolerant than some others, for example more tolerant about gay people and suprisingly tolerant about people with disabilities. For example, there are fashion shows for models with disablitity...and many famous models have used their fame to talk about important things, for example Wairis Dierie and Iman brought the problem of FGM to our awareness.

I do really like the setting for this outfit...It feels very minimalist and scandinavian....and it matches this outfit perfectly. You look very elegant and beautiful. There is something very timeless about a good leather jacket...and those boots are gorgeous.

  25. I don't think we are a dwindling society or less moral values. It's been difficult lately to believe that but that's my belief. No one is truly bad, no one is truly good. We're evolving and changing, but overall, many people are good. They are just overshadowed by the sh*tton of bad. I love the hashtag and it's so beautiful to find people using their platform to support causes and projects. I hope I'll be able to do that one day <3

  27. People will always chase illusions just because they care too much about what others think. But I think that we still have values because we still cherish our families, human rights and many other things that really matter in life. It may not seem so, because we only ever hear about people doing negative things on the news, etc but small acts of every day kindness still exist. :)

  29. You're not the only one. I care. I really try to give to others (what I can) and support people/small businesses in their endeavors. I see a very selfish society, where the emphasis is only about them. There are not many people helping one another. This should be done on a daily basis.

  43. Ira, ur pictures are always stunning and so is ur style!
We are just constantly living for an image, even if we do one good act we want the world to know, now there can be another point that one does so to inspire others so it really depends on the intention and not the world but we are 100% aware of it. We need to dig deep within ourselves and act with the best intentions.

About ethical value... It is so difficult question but I always try to remember about it. I want to teach my daugter how to be good and kind, fair and understanding... I'm not always good but I try to be a good example for her. And I'm so sad when I see that other people don't understand me and don't think that values of humanity are really important.

    ReplyDelete
  47. I was admiring your style (and especially your shoes) but that's been eclipsed by my respect for your morality. Too many people have been abandoning good values lately and that's sad. As a counterpoint, the readers of my blog are uniformly compassionate toward me in my struggle toward a more authentic life. They give me hope for humanity.
