PREJUDICES - WTF?!

"Don't Ever Mistake My Silence For Ignorance,
My Calmness For Acceptance And My Kindness For Weakness."
by Carson Kolhoff

Today I've got a very heavy philosophical subject for you, ladies and gentlemen!
Inspired by Carson Kolhoff's quote I would like to talk about prejudices.
It's hard to point it out on a fashion blog since the last topics to talk about on these
kind of blogs are: Religion or Policy. However, since Kalhoff's words are comprehensive
I would like to state here something out...
Day by day we have to struggle with prejudices!
Day by day those justifications, those underestimations!
Why do we do that? Why do I do that?

Prejudices - WTF? Where are they coming from?
Is it jealousy, frustration, tediousness or prosperity which kills me, you, us inside?

The bigger the wealth the more frustrated gets our society...
The more we have, the more we want! What about Simple living?
Otherwise I cannot explain to myself: the rassism, hate and war in this world!
It makes me sick to hear the news and to know that our world is going insane
physically and mentally.

Prejudices at work, private life and of people who even don't know us...
Again there arises the question wether it's: jealousy, frustration, tediousness or the
ever-growing prosperity?

Just because I'm quiet, it doesn't mean I tolerate the things which are happening
surround me. Just because I'm sober externally and try to make something of my life,
all that doesn't mean I resign myself to what sourrounds me. And just because I'm
smiling and kindly, it doesn't mean I'm weak and gonna let somebody put a label on me.
Who's with me?

(Sorry for getting you bored with my unfashionable :) blah, blah...! )

I so agree with you! I don't get why people are rude or trying to ruin someone else life. I hate hearing those awful stores on the news and it seems to be just getting worse. It is a scary world out!

  4. Interesting topic! :) I think you're right to bring it up though it's obviously something you feel deeply about - although you don't go into too much detail about the situation you refer to that is frustrating you. it's good to channel your frustration into something positive like this to make people think, and as it's your blog, you can blog about whatever topics you feel like without feeling bad :)

Hope the situation with the person 'labelling' you gets resolved!

  6. Babe, DON'T apologise for writing about topics that enrage you. Prejudice is such a serious issue and yet it's so inherently embeded in our lives; we KNOW it's wrong, we KNOW it's unfair, but we still do it anyway. Why? I think prejudice stems from the emptiness within ourselves, the dissatisfaction of our own image/life, and this void consequently becomes filled with fear, which in turn fuels prejudice.

I loved this post, Ira! <3

  7. I've always loved that quote and it's good you expressed your views here Ira. More than often people will misconstrue silence for indifference or weakness but that is usually very far from the truth as smart people will know when to hold their tongue.

I'm with you! But I think the best we can do is be the best we can be. It's a shame people like us can't get rid of the hate in the world, but if we can get rid of the hate in our lives, maybe we can just start a lasting trend. x

  19. You got it! There's a lot of that in the world today. Which makes it a very sad world. I've experienced it on all levels. On jobs, at school, neighbors, friends, people I don't know LOL Life is not suppose to be this way.

  20. So with you, it's not okay, I mean we're all human, we're all fundamentally in the same boat, what's with the hate? Life is not supposed to be a struggle, or never good enough or too short, it's supposed to be fun, an adventure. So many need to learn that it's not who they are or what they have that can make them happy, it's what they think, and as soon as then learn so, I think all the bad stuff, all the hate and prejudice will slowly start to disappear

  34. A tough one. Well, I think it's just the human nature. Most of us have it to some degree, you know, the balance of good and bad, ect. I agree though, the way life is, why do people make it even more complicated?! Have a great weekend!

  35. Humans are our own worst enemy. In fact we're the greatest threat to existence period. We are so very self destructive in nature and I think that is just a default setting we have. It seems like these days more and more people are waking up to this and want peace and change. Not only within themselves but with the world too. I just hope our cries will finally make a difference.
